Week 1 Recap
After electing to receive the opening kickoff, Amherst drove right down the field 65-yards behind the duo of Anthony Passerrello and Ethan Layne. Passerrello ended the drive by calling his own number, scoring from 5-yards.

Amherst Starts Out Hot

The Blue Streaks showed they were not going down lightly as after going three-and out on their first drive, the hosts forced a fourth down stop and converted that stop into points.
Senior running back Daviyon Jackson carried the load literally and figuratively as a 37-yard run, which he carried four Amherst defenders ten yards to set up Zion Henlon’s keeper from a yard to tie the score.
The back and forth action continued as only four plays after the Streaks’ scored Passerrello called his own number again, scoring from eight yards. The fight did not stop for Sandusky as after both teams traded defensive stops, Henlon hooked up with Raymond Peake on a 48-yard dart to make the score 14-13.
Once again the Comets relied on the ground game marching down the field, which resulted in Layne taking it in from six yards to go into halftime with a 21-13 lead.

Sandusky and Amherst trade scores

With a chance to get within a score a botched handoff from Henlon to Jackson resulted in the Comets recovering. They would cash in quickly as Layne scored his third of the night from 4 yards. The touchdown was set up by a 25 yard pass play from Passerrello to Christian Vorhees.
After playing a clean game for three and half quarters another fumble resulted in another Comets touchdown as an errant snap went over Zion Henlon’s head and was recovered by Dylan Popovich in the end zone to give Amherst a 42-16 advantage. The Comets rode out the string for the 42-16 win.
